Happy Mother’s Day to the coolest mom in the whole world!

Yep, that’s my mom trying her musical prowess at the Guitar Hero III.
See, my mom majored in Music in college, and she is a damn good pianist. One day she entered the room while I was playing Guitar Hero III. I didn’t realize she was behind me, watching silently, until the song finished and she asked if she can try it.
It’s weird to see my mom playing a game with loud music, but I sure love the fact that she tried to do something out of the ordinary (at least, in her standards).

My mom and I weren’t really close while I was growing up. I even felt that she didn’t give me much attention. I kinda resented her that time because of that. But looking back, I understand her now.
My four older brothers were quite a handful to care for, and with all the functions she had to attend and duties she had to fulfill as a wife of a high-ranking military officer, she barely has time for herself. And she didn’t neglect me, I realize that now. She was always there, just waiting for me to share my life with her. But, of course, being a teenager makes you feel like you HAVE to go through everything on your own.
It is only now that I am a mom myself that I realize and appreciate the presence of my mom. This realization was magnified by the fact the my husband’s mom passed away years ago and the husband never fails to remind me how lucky I am to still have my mom to help and guide me through my first years of motherhood.
Indeed, I am lucky.
