Not the blog, but the author.

Today is my birthday.

As always, I have 2 options. One, feel depressed because at my age, I’m still going through financial and emotional issues. Two, feel grateful for the things I’ve been blessed with, so far.

I choose the latter.

So at 28, what do I have to be thankful for?

First, I’ve been blessed with wonderful parents who, despite my rants about how I hated them when I was younger (and more stupid ), are the most supportive people I’ve ever known. How many times have they saved me from my financial disasters? I already lost count. They have taught me so much that I am confident I can take the worst challenges life can throw at me, and still come out with an evil smile on my face.

And I have the world’s best husband - the best friend, best father, best lover, best critic, best of everything that one could have. His unwavering love, support, and understanding have helped me while I struggle with my inner demons. I can’t imagine my life without him in it. (With all the “advertising” I did, somebody might come and steal him from me. Know that I will not let him go without a fight. I have “unawakened” assasin genes, I must warn you.)

Then, my three adorable sons. I can’t tell you enough about how Sikei has made (and continue to do so) our relationship stronger. Countless of times have the husband and I made up and decided to give way to each other during arguments and discussions just so Sikei won’t be upset. And I can’t be proud enough of Issen, who’s being a big brother much sooner than we expected. And Kobe, my mini-me, how he completed our family. You know what they say about kids taking away your exhaustion and stress with just one smile? It’s perfectly true.

I am also blessed to be working with the best bosses and officemates of all time! Doing my job doesn’t feel like working, but more like just hanging out with my friends and getting something done. That’s how relaxed our working atmosphere is, and that’s how motivating our big bosses are. My apologies but I don’t post work-related pics here as one of my security measures.

Of course, where would I be without my friends? No matter where they are - on the other side of the world or of the room - they give more meaning to my life. They are among the major reasons why I am the person I am today. I have lots of friends. Pics of my “oldest” (in terms of length of our friendship) are posted here.

I am also thankful for my health. I don’t have a “clean” lifestyle - I smoke (down to 3 sticks a day, wooot!), I drink (occasionally, coz I have no money to buy beer everyday), I don’t exercise, my meals include unhealthy food (not every meal, though) - and yet I am strong and healthy enough to be working and taking care of my family. Yes, there are moments when my energy is way down, but that’s just because of lack of sleep.

All in all, despite the challenges I am facing now, I am blessed. I may rant and say that I wish I were somebody else (somebody richer heheheh), deep inside I am happy with who I am.
